Introduction to Gigabit uplink switch
An Ethernet switch that utilizes 100M/Gigabit electrical ports at the access layer and provides 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps optical/electrical ports in the uplink direction, capable of simultaneously handling terminal access and high-speed data backhaul.
Typical configuration and functions
• Port configuration: 8/16/24/48 ports, 10/100 M or 10/100/1000 M downstream ports + 1–4 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit SFP/RJ45 upstream ports
• PoE capability: Optional IEEE 802.3af/at standard, with a maximum of 30 W per port and 56 W–250 W for the entire device, providing direct power supply to APs and IPCs
• Operating modes: One-click switching between standard switching, video surveillance, VLAN isolation, port aggregation, etc., without requiring complex configuration
• Protection and reliability: 6 kV lightning protection, redundant power supply, fanless and silent design, ensuring stable operation 24/7
Usage scenario
1. Video surveillance: Powering a large number of PoE IPCs, connecting to a gigabit fiber-optic backhaul NVR, solving issues of stuttering and offline
2. Enterprise/Campus Network: 100M/Gigabit desktop access, Gigabit uplink to the core, supporting VLAN isolation, ACL, and QoS to ensure critical business
3. Wireless coverage in hotels/dormitories: PoE ports directly connect to APs, with uplink ports converging to an AC, enabling rapid deployment and easy maintenance
4. Industrial/Outdoor: Lightning protection, wide temperature range models, long-distance optical fiber uplink to the control center, reducing the number of equipment rooms
Example of deployment plan
• Access layer: TL-SL1210P (8×PoE Fast Ethernet + 2×Gigabit RJ45 + 1×Gigabit SFP) → Gigabit fiber → Core switch
• Aggregation layer: S5700-24G-4TF (24×Gigabit RJ45 + 4×10-Gigabit SFP+) → 10-Gigabit link → Data center
• Long-distance scenario: IP-COM G1024F (24×Gigabit RJ45 + 2×Gigabit SFP, up to 20 km) achieves fiber cascading
It is plug-and-play, requiring no complex configuration, and can quickly establish a highly reliable and easily scalable gigabit uplink network in scenarios such as small and medium-sized enterprises, parks, hotels, and surveillance.
